Behind
Commercial Break depicts a headless figure sitting alone in front of the glow of a television, holding an XL drink with a pizza box nearby. The figure is physically present but psychologically absent, absorbed into the light of the screen. The pizza, soda, and television become symbols of comfort and consumption, but also of isolation. There is something almost ritualistic about the scene: sitting, eating, watching, repeating. I am interested in that tension between comfort and emptiness, and in how easily distraction can become a substitute for connection or self-awareness. The glowing television gives the figure something to look toward, but it also emphasizes how alone they are.
